So what's new, nothing really, doing the same stuff as before, but I will now reveal the secret of my work. I'm going to show you a couple of pictures of what I'm actual doing. I miss the old good days when I't was really complicated to answer the question what are you doing for a living. Now it's just plain and simple maintenance work in greenhouses. My old jobs could take over 5 minute to try to explain what we were doing.
But on my job, I only have 1 more week to go because of limitation of my work visa. I need to find an new employer, which is a good thing for me, been there for to long.
Me and Jodie is going overseas in the start of november. We are going to Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. I'm a bit worried about Thailand because of the floodings. And now it's time to do some research about which shots you need to take when you go over there and then go to the dr and get a needle in my arm.
So this is what I'm doing for a living

This is what the greenhouses look like

The cucumber plants has a lifespan of 3 month, when they get older their lifespan they producing less amount of fruit and less quality. When they are too old, we cut the plants down!

After we been cutting them down, we clean everything!
Here the cleaning is almost done!

When we are finished with the cleaning we put down new sawdust bags where they put new plants in!

They have a big problem with diseases on the plants and the funny thing is that we cleans everything BUT not the only thing that's goes into the new sawdust bag, the dripper. As you can see here on the picture, it's all green because all bacteria. I have told the management a couple of times and the last time i got a warning, that I'm just going to do what I'm told or get fired. That's how stupid this farm is. Because this the diseases spreads all the time and we get a lot of work, but it's just plain stupidity to run a farm like that. But that's how it works, even if you know a better, faster and more efficient way to deal with a problem there is no way they are going to listen to you. You are like a slave, you are treated like a slave and it doesn't mater how good your ideas is, because your a slave and your payed to do what your told.
In the job I had in the outback I almost got fired because i suggested to put up prices on the different drinks we had on the fridge to boost sales. In school we learned that put a price up boost sales with at least 15%. I told my boss this, that It's not good for the business to not have prices. Then he asked me are you or me the owner of this company and that I'm suppose to do my job and shut up or get fired. It's funny which idiot's this outback people are.
We got a new farm that have been abandon for years that we are cleaning up now. It's a lot of hard work, this is how it looks like.
During the clean up, we have been killing more than 10 snakes. When it's comes to snakes here you need to kill it because they can be extremely dangerous so it's a choose between risk your own life or to kill a snake. I don't like to kill animals but in a situation like this I have no problems with it! We kill them pretty fast and i always make sure to "finish" them so they are not suffering. The taipan kills you within 10 minutes and it takes you at least 15 min to drive to the hospital.
So crazy outback people and dangerous snakes!! Maybe this will finally make me a real man!!
Over and out!
Really nice to hear from you again. Killing snakes is no problem for us in the northern Europe, snow season is coming up, and the most dangerous animal I have met is a tick that gave me the "boleria" disease by biting me in my arm without me knowing it. Thank god that we have antibiotics !
ReplyDeleteBad that they don't listen to your wise advise, in our countries we are used to a more flat organisation and used to listening to people without prestige. Bad habits down under...
Nice pictures and nice wedding, and also as always warm and nice weather.
Her we have to warm up water to be able to get wet. This week I and Lisa were in Ystad for a "daytime Spa". We went racerbiking as i warm-up, and then got down in the outdoor pool (32 degrees c), only 5 degrees in the air.
Nice to hear and see from you, have a nice time on your vacation, and send our greetings to Jody!
