Last day day in Vietnam
So we finally made it up to Han oi, the end of our destination in Vietnam! We had a perfect end with a two day boat trip to Hal on Bay. We went out on the sea, we stopped for some kayak paddling and then we stop at a big cave. After that it was time for dinner and a couple of beers and at the end of the night we had karaoke, but it was Asian songs...I mean, I love asian culture, the asian people, the food, BUT their music isn't really that good, and the problem is that we don't recognise any of the songs. After a while the found the western karaoke dvd. But it was asian versions of the western songs. So it was with asian music and dodgy translated and synced text. I don't understand why they put so much effort to make their on own western dvd when they copy everything else. But it was still fun!!
The day after we were suppose to go up early to see the sunrise, but we had a window in our cabin and we could the sunrise through it half-asleep. One of the guys went up to see the sunrise, but told us that he couldn't see the sunrise because all of the surrounding mountains. The crew told us that the sunrise was amazing and we should really go up and see it. Properly a lie just to get us to bed early so they would get a shorter work shift.
We were around 20 people on the boat and everyone was really nice, it was the perfect size becaus everyone talked with everyone. If we would be a bigger group it would not be the same thing. We meet a swedish couple and another swedish girl on the boat. It's so many swedish people traveling southeast asia. I get surprised to see many swedish people everywhere. I hardly never see them in Australia, but I think that has to do with that swedish people like their job security and want to stay at the same place. I think it's a little bit to big step to just give up your job, leave your friends and family to try something new. So that would make me very unswedish!
On the boat we meet Bill, he is from Canada and he loves to talk, and he hade a lot of interesting stuff to say, a lot of political stuff which I love and I lot of stuff about USA. He's from Africa but moved to Canada in an early age. He was very friendly, helped us to take some photos when we paddling the kayak.
You meet so many interesting people when you travelling from so many different cultures and ages. The nice thing when you travelling is that is so easy to make friends, everyone talks with everyone and different ages and cultures just makes things more interesting. I just wish it would be so easy when you are at home too.
Vietnam have been a real adventure, the nature here is amazing, I got to see a lot during our bus trips, the best one was when the bus was climbing mountains. The small towns we were passing was really interesting to see too, and all the old buildings from the former communist time. You can really see the difference.
What you do realise is that Vietnam is a poor country, their greatest monuments haven't been all to exciting. Their food is really basic, they have their noodle soup, a noodle wok with pork and some form of crepes filled with meet, beyond that there is nothing. But you can order other type of food but you can really tell that they don't really know what they are doing. I think it's because Vietnam has been a poor country and they just made the food that was available. But things are changing, Vietnam is the fastest growing country in southeast Asia.
Tomorrow were flying to Bangkok in Thailand and we will stay there for a day or two. Bangkok is very close to the coast so we are going to go to one of the islands near the coast. It's going to be a couple of days of relax, with a couple of drinks, message and hopefully some diving. The waves is not at that place so there will be no surfing attempt!
Take care
Over and out!!

Nice pictures, and lots of pictures. Vietnam has had good relations with Sweden for long. In Olof Palmes days we helped building a gigantic Paper Factory, and Swedes have generally a good reputation there. Nowadays many companies in Sweden import furniture fron Vietnam, in large quantaties.
ReplyDeleteWe can see that you have a really good time.
In sweden we prepare for christmas. Candles on the table and birch wood in the fire place burning slowly.
Keep enjoying your holiday !
