The funny thing with Bundy seems to be that I have exactly the same amount of money on my bank account as I had when I arrived here in July! Even though I have been working for over 6 month full time.
Where do my money go? Take a guess, my freak cars! I sold the dodgy Ford Falcon and new my new Festiva has start to give me a lot of trouble.
It all begin with a ticking sound from the engine! It was the hydraulic lifter that need to be changed. I took the car to a real mechanic and I got a very unpleasant call back. When they took of the top of the engine there was so much carbon and dirt building up and a little bit of it drop down inside the engine. This blocked the oil pump and the mechanic told me that the engine is basically FUCKED!!
So I now need to do an engine swap! Another wonderful day of chasing parts for my car! And the mechanic would charge me 650 dollar for do the swap (at least 650, could be higher)
But I'm lucky that I have contacts, I know a lot of people and I meet Kurt I local guy I worked with in the packing shed and he's a qualified mechanic and he's doing the engine swap for me for 350 bucks!
We found an engine that only ha 70.000 k's on it at the wreckers! For 400 bucks! So a job that was supposed to cost 300-400 bucks turned in to a 750 dollar job + oil and other stuff so say 800 bucks. But I'm very lucky to get away with just this!
Another good thing is that my old engine was an 1.5 liter engine and the new used one is only 1.3 liter which will give me around 5-6% better fuel economy, but it will have 47kw ( 63.03 hp) instead of 56kw (75.10 hp), but that's no problem for me! Because I already got my first speeding ticket....so maybe it's better for me with a little bit weaker engine!
Here in Australia there is no coddle treatment as in Sweden! A mobile speed camera caught me, they have cars parked on the side of the road with cameras in and they take a picture of your numberplate and send you a ticket! Here they don't need to verify the driver, so if you lend your car you are going to get the ticket. If you tell the police that your mate borrowed your car then the police department is contacting this person and only if the person says yes they send the bill to her/him! So if they say no then there is no more question asked, then the owner of the car is responsible! This is a bit scary, what proof do they really have? You can go to court with it, but if you loose, then you have to pay for the court costs!
If you don't pay your ticket they can force your employer to pay it from your sallery, or force the bank to get money directly from your bank account without your permission. You can also loose your licence AND they can immobilise your vehicle which means that they will wreck your car!
The only thing missing here is If you ignore this order we are going to rape you at the same time we take a big shit on you until you pay us!!
A car is always a source of problems. If you have a new car the value of the car vanishes rapidly and you will find yourself poor sooner than you can say "car salesman", and if you own an older car you will have costs when repairing and changing various stuff in your vehicle.

Yeah, the bike is a lot cheaper to run and make you more healthy!
ReplyDeleteYeah a new car looses a lot of value, and you need to do service by the book to keep waranty, which means that you have to change stuff even if they are all good, just because the book says it. So it's also high cost service costs and the value that goes down. My car will be up and running this sunday did my mechanic friend tell me!
